At the moment it's just me (Pierre), my cats, and the local kangaroo mob, operating as a sole trader. I believe in video games as an art form, and that a small group of independent creatives with a shared passion can be more agile, daring and creative than larger teams. My goal is to build a small self sustaining, 100% employee owned and operated indie studio, creating games with love and passion every day.
I've been writing software for over a decade now, you might even have used it if you've been over here and used an eftpos machine (aka payment terminal) to make a purchase in Australia. So I'm no stranger to networking, concurrency and making the most out of few CPU cycles and a little bit of RAM.
I'm currently doing game jams, and working on some prototypes to test out some systems I have in mind for a hybrid role-playing / tactics / narrative driven game set in a future where humanity is just starting to reach out beyond our solar system... But it's far colder, darker and more dangerous than our worst nightmares out there beyond the Oort cloud. It'll take every bit of cunning, forethought and creativity you can muster to help humanity survive, let alone thrive. Watch this space for news on that in the coming year!
I'm always happy to connect with other creatives, work on a game jam or talk through some crazy idea. Please don't hesitate to get in touch on discord (coming soon) or by email at contact (at) brokenshacklegames.com
I'm open to work for hire on a short term basis to help fund the development of Broken Shackle Games. I'd love to quit the day job and focus on this full time but I'm not there yet so my availability is fairly limited, but if you have a gnarly programming problem or some performance optimisation that you could use a hand with, please don't hesitate to reach out to contact (at) brokenshackle.dev and let's have a chat!
